Polishing Wheels

Polishing Wheels

We produce polishing wheels for single- and double-sided machines as well as CNC tools, which can be customized to your machine and application requirements. Our polishing wheels perform at polishing a number of different materials. Here is a collection of some of them:

  • Metals – e.g. tungsten, molybdenum, nickel silver, stainless steel, ferrites or different alloys
  • Ceramics – e.g. Spinel, Al2O3, silicon carbide, SiSiC, silicon nitride, ALON®, aluminum nitride
  • Crystals – e.g. sapphire, calcium fluoride, germanium, silicon carbide, silicon, YAG
  • Different optical and industrial glass types
  • Material or workpiece combinations of the above mentions such as sapphire in stainless steel

All our tools are ground in with high precision and customized according to your needs.

Please contact us to discuss your specification.

Benefits of dopa polishing wheels:

  • High removal rates
  • Homogeneous, scratch-free surfaces
  • Transparent, interferometrically measurable surfaces
  • Polishing of material combinations without grit boundary effects e. g. orange peel
  • Very low sub surface damage
  • Cutting-edge technology that is continuously optimized
  • Low edge roll enables tight form errors up to the edge of the processed parts
  • Easy to dress and condition

Polishing Pads

Polishing Pads

With dopa polishing pads you will achieve superior flatness, material removal rate (MRR) and surface
quality on materials like glass, sapphire, silicon carbide and other ultra-hard carbides and nitrides.

The dopa GP-1 works with Silica CMP slurries as well as with diamond slurries. You will achieve the best process results when using the pad in combination with dopa polishing slurries.

Tabelle: Übersicht Poliertücher

Customized grooving and slurry holes available upon request.

Benefits of polishing pads

  • High material removal rate (MRR)
  • Excellent (with GP1, WP2-7) /good (with BP2) part flatness and TTV
  • Improves the surface finish and the subsurface damage of your parts
  • Minimizes edge-rounding and orange-peel
  • Keeps the removal rate stable giving you better process control
  • Very durable pad with long lifetime

Polishing Slurry

Superior surface finish of optical components

We produce polishing slurries for the surface finishing of various materials. By using these slurries in your polishing process, you will achieve superior flatness, material removal rate and surface quality.

These slurries with evenly dispersed grit are very stable and offer a long-time use.

Typ XC-7

Colloidal silica polishing slurry for polishing of materials such as sapphire, silicon, YAG and calcium fluoride.
Particle size: 7 – 10 nm

Typ XC-35 / XC-40

Colloidal silica polishing slurry for polishing materials such as sapphire, silicon, YAG and calcium fluoride.
Particle size: XC-35: 50 nm
Particle size: XC-40: 90 nm

Typ PMI-2

Polishing slurry made of rare earths (Ce) for the surface finishing of glass.

Other types

We also produce other slurries for materials such as sapphire, silicon carbide and other ultra-hard carbides and nitrides. We would be pleased to determine the right solution for your needs.

Benefits of dopa polishing slurries

  • Gives a perfect surface finish and eliminates any subsurface damage of your parts
  • High material removal rate (MRR)
  • Excellent part flatness and TTV of your parts
  • Compatible with all common hard and medium-hard PU-pads and suede-type polishing pads.
  • Keeps the removal rate stable to ensure better process control
  • Stable slurry with long lifetime

Grinding Wheels

Grinding Wheels

We develop and produce grinding wheels for all machine types and sizes – for single- as well as double-sided machines. Depending on your very needs, we will create the best grinding wheel to produce your components.

We gladly consult you:

  • At processing very sensible materials such as calcium fluoride or germanium
  • At grinding and polishing very hard materials such as sapphire, silicon carbide or spinell
  • When it comes to producing very thin substrates
  • At high requirements on flatness, parallelism, roughness or other specifications, that are important to you
  • Already during feasibility studies or prototyping phase to create viable solutions

Segmented

Segmented grinding wheels are used for grinding very thin parts or a high density of components. The segmentation of the grinding wheel is above all to avoid tilting of the processed parts and to improve the edge sharpness.

The gap between the segments can be chosen flexibly and is usually determined by the size of the smallest components that need to be processed.

Pelleted

Pelleted grinding wheels are used where high removal rates combined with relatively low pressure are required.

These grinding wheels ensure a good removal of chipping and therefore avoid that clogging of the tools.

Grit size and pattern are completely flexible. We produce grinding wheels customized exactly to your production needs.

Fully Covered / Smoothed

Fully covered grinding wheels are typically used when many small items need to be processed at the same time. In the micro optics or watches industry, for example, several hundred components are ground simultaneously.

The full coverage ensures that all components are processed evenly on the grinding wheel. It avoids clipping or tilting of parts during the transition from one grinding segment to the next.

Subsequently, the edge quality of the components is improved and the risk of damage minimized, while the surface finish is significantly increased.
